WWE Legend Big Show and Mohan’s Custom Tailors featured in 2002 WWE Magazine

In a special Mohan's Custom Tailors' 50th Anniversary year throwback, we remember an extraordinary event, wherein Mohan's was featured in a 2002 WWE Magazine piece focusing on the legendary (The) "Big Show" a.k.a. Paul Donald Wight II (once also "The Giant"), and our bespoke menswear creation for the sports icon.

In a special “throwback” during Mohan’s Custom Tailors‘ 50th Anniversary celebration year, we remember an extraordinary event wherein, in 2002, we were featured in an article in WWE Magazine with the legendary (The) “Big Show” a.k.a. Paul Donald Wight II (once also “The Giant”), the seven-foot+ tall, World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE), World Championship Wrestling (WCW), All Elite Wrestling (AEW) megastar. The piece, entitled “It’s A Small World: When You’re The Big Show, followed the WWE great for 72 hours, during which he did many things, including making a stop at the Mohan’s showroom for a bespoke fitting for our iconic suits and accessories.

Of Big Show’s visit to Mohan’s, the article stated that the entire Mohan’s team were (and continue to be today) extensively knowledgeable about the career of WWF/WWE and WCW seven-time world champion: “one of the most decorated and feared Superstars to ever step foot inside the squared circle. He was the first Superstar to capture the WWE, WCW, and ECW Championships and won the Andre the Giant Memorial Battle Royal at WrestleMania 31.” [WWE.com] He is also an actor, having appeared in “feature films and television series such as ‘Jingle All the Way,’ ‘The Waterboy,’ ‘Star Trek: Enterprise,’ and two USA Network’s comedy-dramas ‘Royal Pains,’ ‘Psych’ and the action-drama ‘Burn Notice'” and more.

Quoting the WWE Magazine piece about Mohan’s own legend, Mike Mohan, they wrote that “he first gained fame in the New York sports world when he made a suit for then-New York Knicks center Patrick Ewing…” and that “The 7-foot-1 basketball star spread the word about Mike’s skills with a scissor and a sewing needle, and others began seeking him out.” The magazine named “baseball’s Barry Bonds, ex-Knick Walt ‘Clyde’ Frazier, United Nations Secretary General Kofi Annan and former Mayor Rudy Giuliani” among many others. With this experience, and a love for WWE, UFC, and more, Mike Mohan and our team were therefore thrilled to “meet the challenge” of fitting Big Show. Among the most fascinating details cited in the article were the wrestling superstar’s extraordinary measurements of “a 62″ chest, 43 1/2″ sleeves, 24 1/2″ collar, 53″ waist and 61″ hips.” The Mohan’s team responded with 100% bespoke designs for “two double-breasted suits, one jacket, and three pairs of pants.”

What a true honor and pleasure it was to work with this sports icon and also to have the chance to be featured in this piece in WWE Magazine!
